Following on from the last post, many of you have already noticed works are underway and being tested, mainly on the Guess The Number game. This game is not yet working and is under development. The intention is for the game to be up and running on the new system by the end of the week.

The main improvements will significantly enhance the sites’ user experience. In the majority of cases, games will be fully automated meaning losses will be immediately updated on the site and, once expired, automatically removed. There will be some exceptions, such as Votes.

One significant improvement will be in relation to verification. As we have said from the outset, this is a community site with ethical values. Posting pictures of others without their express permission is not something we want on this site. We previously took the decision to introduce verification to achieve this, which we are confident ensured only genuine players were taking part. However, this led to significant increases in work for admin and, it took us a long time to process posts and verification requests.

Instead, content will now only be able to be submitted live, via a camera on a phone or webcam. This will ensure only genuine players are playing. There are other websites with similar games to ours which are online, but very few are genuine players, with much content posted by “losers” being taken from other websites. We do not want this on our site and, whilst this may in turn mean less people play the games, you can be confident they are genuine live players and no copied content or revenge porn will be published on our site.

We will therefore be removing verification from the site and, all players, past and present, will have any content or information (such as email addresses) deleted as it will be no longer necessary to use a verification number.

As part of the developments, any content uploaded will be stored and posted using a new secure system. This means the submission forms we have been using will be removed from the site. This will also remove any content which has been submitted using the site forms. Unfortunately, this also means any players who have submitted using the forms in the past but whose content has not been uploaded, will now be deleted without being posted on the site. I know this will be a disappointment to many players, but the amount of content, even when the site has clearly been down, has been incredible and not something we can easily process.

There will be a short window for anyone who wishes to try the games to be able to do so, including submitting if you wish, without having their content posted on the site. All content will be deleted, so if you have ever wanted to try, now is your chance without any risk attached.

Finally, we are looking at addressing new legal requirements for our UK visitors. New legislation requires sites to ensure anyone accessing a website with adult material has age verification checks. It is important to us the site follows all applicable laws and that visitors or players can play without us having access to your genuine identity. We are therefore looking at reputable and secure ways in which we can achieve this.

As an interim measure, we will be disabling the comments facility on the site. We get at minimum 20 comments a day from link farming, which is a shame because genuine comments get missed. We will see if we can sort this in the future.

Finally, whilst this is a community website started by admin, the technical requirements for these improvements were beyond our expertise and we have, therefore, had no option but to pay a third-party developer to carry out this work. This has been at significant personal cost to admin, despite some funding coming from an external company. It is likely we will add some form of way for anyone who is willing or able to make donations to this and future works, however, want to make this voluntary and content free for all to access. There are many exciting ideas we have, but they are also very expensive, and we cannot fund this without the site self-funding.
